Membership at YCB is very simple and affordable. If you think about it the membership works out to be $0.80 a day for an adult membership. What else can you do that offers year round access, good friends, fresh air and exercise for such a low price?
|
The YCB facilities are available to members and their guests 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We currently have about 200 members including families and support all archery styles from freestyle compound bows to Olympic recurve to traditional instinctive shooting. Our new clubhouse has six double lanes indoors and our 50 acres of land contains an outdoor target range, a 70m Olympic target, a 14 station field course and two 3D courses with 20 targets (rubber animals) each. All this is laid out through picturesque mature hardwood and pine forests.
You can become part of our trusting community, too, practicing & developing your archery skills and enjoying comradery with your fellow members. All we ask is that members be safe, clean up, follow the rules & regs, help out when able and respect all other archers regardless of their skill level and equipment style. Our club has enjoyed over 50 years of cooperative operation, run by volunteers for the benefit of current members and future archers in the next 50 years.

All applications for membership are subject to a sixty (60) day probationary period. During this time both parties, the applicant and the YCB Board of Directors, have the option to accept or reject the application. A non-refundable initiation fee of $100.00, ($ 50.00 for students, juniors and senior citizens) must be attached to the application. A 50% discount off the initiation fee applies to recent (within two month) participants in the YCB archery lessons. The initiation fee is for your 60-day probationary period. The probationary period applies to new members who have not had any previous membership at YCB. Student and Junior memberships require sponsorship from an Adult or Senior full member. No application for individual membership shall be considered from any person under the age of fourteen years.

Family memberships include husband, wife and all children under the age of 18 years. Family members 18 years and older must apply separately for an individual adult or student membership.
A student membership is for persons attending school full time locally and make use of the clubs facility year round.
Part time student membership is designed for out-of-town full time students. They will be allowed access to the facilities for a four month period, from the beginning of May to the end of the Labour Day weekend. Occasional visits to the club at other official school holidays may be included. Key fobs or lock codes will not be issued to these members.
Members who have let their membership lapse for more than a year will be subject to a re-registration fee of $ 50.00 unless the Board of Directors have been informed of special circumstances like prolonged illness, temporary job transfers or other involuntary absence. A probationary period does not apply for returning members.
Mailed fees must be paid by cheque or money order payable to York County Bowmen. Cash payments are accepted in person.
Mail the application with required funds to York County Bowmen (address on application form) or pass it on to the current Membership Director or Treasurer. A signed waiver form must accompany this application form.
A temporary ID tag will be issued shortly after receipt of the application. This must be worn visibly while on club property
New members must attend an orientation meeting during the probationary period. It is the member’s responsibility to arrange such a meeting with the Membership Director. During this meeting the rules and regulations will be discussed and a photo for a permanent ID tag will be taken. In case of a family membership all listed members over the age of thirteen require a photo ID tag. If all members are not available for the orientation meeting a suitable pass port like photo can be E-Mailed or supplied for scanning. .
During the probationary period you will have full privileges of the club except for a clubhouse and gate key or lock combination. If you think a full club member won’t be there to let you in, it would be best to arrange to meet someone there for access if you need access to the clubhouse. We also ask new members for the first while when using the grounds that you go with a full member until you become familiar with the property. There are some heavily wooded areas and it is possible to become disoriented. This is for your safety, you will learn where you can walk safely and be shown the proper routes to get back to the clubhouse.
Once you have submitted your membership application, attended an orientation and completed your 60-day probation your application for full membership will be considered at the next board meeting (held on the first Thursday of each month) for a change to an active status
When approved you are required to submit the full yearly membership fee to the Membership Director. Active membership starts at the day of approval, payment is due within a period of 45 days after notification of acceptance. Late payments, after 45 days, will be subject to a penalty charge. To accommodate certain circumstances special payment arrangements may be negotiated with the Board of Directors..
Upon receipt of payment you will be eligible to rent a key fob to get access to the building, a lock combination for the gate and a photo ID tag will be issued to all members 14 years of age and older. (Junior members are not issued fobs or key codes). We ask that you wear this in a visible manner (shirt, hat, quiver etc) whenever on the club’s property. The members are requested to keep the combination secret; it shall not be passed on to non-members. Each year a new lock combination will be issued to paid-up members prior to the locks being reprogrammed.
The membership fees are for a 12 month period. However, like any other organisation we do operate within a fiscal year, which ends on the 31st of December. This date is also when membership renewals are due. New members joining partly into the year pay the full yearly fee. A credit will be applied for the unused month to the next year’s membership fee. For example: A member being approved at the June meeting pays a full yearly membership fee. This creates a credit for a five month period. In January of the next year this member will be billed 7/12 of the yearly fee. This will extend the membership to the end of the new year.
Certain maintenance is required on the clubhouse, grounds, 3-D course and field course during the year. All members are obligated to participate in this work for a minimum of 15 hours/year. An additional fee may be tacked onto the next year’s fee for non-participation in the amount of $8.00 per missed hour. Please note the notices on the board in the club house or newsletters for work party schedules.
